Scot began his ceramic career in 2005 at the request of his mother who was a master china painter. Anna was accustomed to painting on stock porcelain blanks but wanted to expand into original porcelain works, so after attending several camps and seminars, Scot began slipcasting and hand sculpting porcelain vessels, etc. Scot has since expanded into other kiln fired arts such as fused glass and now operates a "paint your own pottery" studio and teaches classes and workshops at his studio in Fancy Gap, Virginia. Before relocating to Fancy Gap Scot lived in the Athens, Georgia area. In 2015 Scot became the first artist to win the award for best in show at the Georgia National Fair three consecutive years. Scot's porcelain work is exhibited in the Porcelain Art Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As an artist his passion is for color and the element of surprise, and the wonder provided by the world of kiln fired art is just a bonus. Opening the kiln is just like Christmas morning every day.
