Donald Shelar

Donald Shelar The American artist Donald Shelar was born in Virginia in 1977 to a family with roots as far back as the 4th century. He comes from a long line of artists. He has always stayed in the Blue Ridge Mountains where he was born. He started to create art before his 5th birthday. He created work for his friends and family.By the time he was 10 he entered a "Keep Virginia Clean" state art competition and won First Place. His art has been on display at Moss Art Center in Blacksburg and Clayton Visual Arts Center. His art has been published in Spotlight Contemporary Art magazine, Rotary Art Show in Chesapeake, Virginia and Fresh Art Show in New Mexico.


Donald also had his paintings "King Neptune" and "Brown Pelican" published in Observica , Artist Talk Art magazine. Both pieces were in "Children of Men" art magazine, displayed at the EVAC Gallery in New York City. "Brown Pelican" was on the cover of Observica art magazine, third edition. He works from his studio in Woodlawn, Virginia which he also resides.
