Brenda Jones was born in Hillsville, Virginia and continues to live there with her husband and granddaughter.
From an early age Brenda loved colors. Later she discovered the joy of drawing. The pursuit of art has been intermittent in most of her life but in recent years she has begun to refocus on her love of art and creativity.
Mediums that Brenda incorporates in her art include acrylics, oils, and drawing. She is inspired by the beautiful landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains where she was born and raised. Cloud formations, sky colors, form and texture of trees, water movement--all motivate her to be creative. Color is important in her artwork as well as composition. She also enjoys contrasting light and dark values.
Brenda has entered her artwork in the Rock Spring Art Show in Critz, Virginia. She has won the Merit Award twice for her acrylic paintings and has placed third in the Acrylic Painting division twice. She has also won numerous awards for her paintings at the local Agricultural Fair.
